About us
Himalayan Environment and Life Protection (H.E.L.P.) is a not-for-profit organization working to protect the environment and to mitigate and adapt to climate change in the Himalayas, while supporting communities and individuals to flourish and working toward reducing all forms of life's suffering and increasing welfare.
To empower Himalayan communities and women to create holistic, sustainable, replicable, local and innovative solutions to become resilient in the face of climate change — while fostering economic prosperity, social harmony, and preserving cultural identity.
A world that adopts nature-based solutions putting individual and community wellbeing, and respect for nature, self, and others, before profit and exploitation of the natural world — where humans live in harmony with nature and thrive within the interdependence of all things.
Our founder
H.E.L.P. was created by Tibetan Buddhist lama Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche in 2023. Born in 1975 in Samagaun, in the Himalayan border regions between Tibet and Nepal, Rinpoche is a much-loved and accomplished meditation master known for presenting the ancient wisdom of Tibet in a fresh, engaging way.
His teachings weave together personal experience with modern scientific research, reflecting a lifelong interest in Western science and psychology alongside the meditative and philosophical traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
Recognition
Our team under Tergar Charity Nepal was honored with UNDP's prestigious Equator Prize — awarded for outstanding community efforts to reduce poverty through the conservation and sustainable use of nature.
