Repair & Maintenance Training Opportunity — For Two Young Adults from Nubri Valley (Age 18+).

Are you from Nubri Valley and interested in developing hands-on skills that can empower you and your community? If so, apply for a full scholarship to participate in hands-on training in household technology repair and maintenance.

1. Receive hands-on training — a full scholarship to learn practical repair and maintenance skills for everyday household technologies, including electric kettles, induction cookers, rice cookers, and cell phones. Transportation funding may be available.

2. Build leadership and community skills — participate in a 5-day repair and maintenance workshop; learn and share your new skills alongside researchers from the University of Washington (USA), expert trainers from Kathmandu and Nubri, and HELP, a Nubri-based local nonprofit organization. You will develop leadership skills while contributing to community capacity building in Nubri Valley.

3. Engage in research, hands-on learning, and community building — participate in a community-centered project that combines hands-on technical training, research, and community building to build technology repair and maintenance infrastructure.

Eligibility — To apply, you must: be 18 years or older; be from Nubri Valley; be available to participate between September and December 2026; be able to speak Nubri Ke or Tibetan; be able to read and write in English or Nepali; and be in Kathmandu Valley. No prior repair or technical experience is required — just an interest in learning, a willingness to participate, and a commitment to sharing your skills with your community.

Application Deadline: September 25, 2026. Contact: Kunsang Choden — lamak@uw.edu. Workshop Location: Kathmandu.
